The Duchess of Cambridge Launches Her Early Years Royal Foundation

Congratulations to HRH Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge who today has launched her Royal Foundation Research Centre for Early Childhood in a bid to “transform lives for generations to come” and boost awareness into early years development, which she feels is “the social equivalent to climate change”

The Centre for Early Childhood will “drive awareness of and action on the extraordinary impact of the early years, in order to transform society for generations to come.”

It’s going to be a life-long focus for Kate, and the Centre has three main focuses:

1. Promoting/commissioning high-quality research

2. Collaborating with experts in the public, private and voluntary sectors

3. Developing creative campaigns for awareness and action

“What shapes our childhood shapes the adults and the parents we become.”
– Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge.

The Centre’s first report is ‘Big Change Starts Small,’ a collaboration with experts at Harvard University and the London School of Economics, and includes info on making real change for mental health, data, inter-generational change, & building the early years workforce.

Catherine wrote the foreword: “Our first five years lay important foundations for our future selves. This period is when we first learn to manage our emotions and impulses, to care and to empathise, and thus ultimately to establish healthy relationships with ourselves and others.”

Lord Hague, CEO of the Royal Foundation, said “The Duchess and the Foundation will aim to bring people together from all corners of the country and all parts of society to help improve early childhoods and ultimately lifelong outcomes.”

It Is very clear how, for a decade, Catherine has been building her skillset and knowledge base to be able to launch an initiative of this calibre.

Today, the Centre published its first study titled ‘Big Change Starts Small’, written in collaboration with Harvard University and the London School of Economics!

Following the launch of her Royal Foundation, the Duchess of Cambridge also participated in a round table at the London School of economics today.
