HRH Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge turns 40 on January 9th and on the eve of her milestone 40th birthday, Kensington Palace released three new portraits by Italian fashion photographer Paolo in celebration of her birthday.
The photographs, taken at Kew Gardens in Nov 2021 by Paolo Roversi, will be displayed in 3 places which have a special meaning to Her Royal Highness: Berkshire, St Andrews and Anglesey.
Then the portraits will enter the permanent collection of The National Portrait Gallery, of which Catherine is patron.
Both gowns worn in these portrait pictures are by McQueen.
Her earrings with the red dress were lent by Her Majesty the Queen, the other pair belonged to HRH Diana, Princess of Wales.
The Duchess and Paolo were inspired by 19th century photography, which was the focus of Kate’s graduate thesis.
The Duchess of Cambridge has drawn on four generations of queens for landmark photographs to celebrate her 40th birthday, encapsulating the past, present and future of the Royal Family
