On the 6th of February of this year, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II became the first Monarch in British history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee and today marked the beginning of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration Weekend.
The Platinum Jubilee celebration will run from today, Thursday 2nd of June 2022 to Sunday 5th of June 2022, with several celebratory events and festivities taking place in London and around the UK.
Yesterday, on the eve of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Buckingham Palace released this specially commissioned Jubilee portrait of The Queen. It was taken by Ranald Mackechnie in the Victoria Vestibule at Windsor Castle on 25 May 2022.
DAY ONE – TROOPING OF THE COLOURS
The Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.
Today’s Trooping The Colour saw a display of military pageantry from thousands of members of the Household Division and 250 horses.
The event took place in London watched by tens of thousands of people who lined The Mall and watched on big screens nearby, as well as the many more watching from their homes.
On behalf of his mother, the future kings, TRH The Prince of Wales took the Salute, with The Duke of Cambridge, as well as The Princess Royal, in her role as Colonel of the Blues and Royals, also riding in this display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare.
Senior members of the Royal Family arrived by horse and carriage for the Platinum Jubilee Trooping The Colour Parade.

The ‘Colour’ or regimental flag was trooped by the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards, and more than 1200 officers and soldiers from the Household Division who put on a display of military pageantry on Horse Guards Parade, together with hundreds of Army musicians and around 240 horses.
During the parade, Royal Gun Salutes were fired across the UK.
Once the parade had ended the Royal Procession returned to Buckingham Palace where The Queen came out on the balcony to take a salute, accompanied by The Duke of Kent, Colonel of the Scots Guards.
Later, Her Majesty was joined by other members of the Royal Family to watch the flypast from 70 RAF aircraft.
PLATINUM JUBILEE BEACONS
Just after dark later today, throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, over 3,200 platinum jubilee beacons wERE lit.
This continues the United Kingdom’s long tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with a chain of lights across the country.
The Queen led the lighting of the Platinum Jubilee Beacons from Windsor Castle. She took part in a special dual ceremony with the Duke of Cambridge.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons were also lit in each of the Commonwealth countries.
King George VI would be so very proud of his daughter.
The Queen has been both inspirational and indomitable in her reign.
She is definitely her father’s pride.
